By Train
Jolimont and Richmond are the two nearby train stations, approaching the ground from different sides. Use the current journey planner to check the service from your accommodation.
By Tram Or Bus
Tram routes 48 and 75 stop near Jolimont. Route 70 runs through the Melbourne Park precinct, while bus route 246 stops on Punt Road.
Driving And Access
If you are driving, check parking near your accommodation and compare off-site parking options before travelling. Yarra Park parking is limited and can close for events or ground conditions. Spend Time Around The Ground
The hours around an MCG event are part of the occasion. Yarra Park surrounds the stadium, with broad paths through the trees and statues of Australian sporting figures around the ground. On an event day, those paths fill with people arriving from Jolimont, Richmond and the city.
Before the gates open, you can have lunch on Swan Street, meet friends in Richmond or approach from the city across the William Barak Bridge. After the final siren, last ball or encore, the same precinct opens back out towards East Melbourne, Richmond and the CBD. You can stay among the crowd for dinner or take a quieter route home through the surrounding streets.
Give the area a little time rather than treating it as a corridor to your seat. A walk through Yarra Park reveals details that disappear in the rush, and the sporting precinct feels different again once the crowd has moved on.
